The Creative Tech Village joined forces with our sister innovation hubs WA Data Science Innovation Hub (WADSIH), CyberWest Hub, & WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub at West Tech Fest in December, 2023. We hosted a future skills panel at the Diversity & Innovation Techfest Satellite event, representing a timeline of career stages: student, early career, start up, career established and industry guru.
Our panelists were incredible as they shared their current skill sets and discussed future skill needs. All agreed that technological literacy (particularly data and critical thinking), along with flexibility, and self & work management abilities were a must.
As our talented panel discussed their innovations and success, the consistent theme was thinking differently. Diversity leading to innovation, empathy for those around us, and creativity being at the forefront of doing things differently.
Our panel represented young people, women, neurodivergence, aboriginal culture, entrepreneurial thinking, lifelong learning (skills & self awareness) and cultural diversity. With a myriad of successes among the group, one future pathway was very clear, a thriving future = divergent thinking.
Thank you to our amazing panelists Archie Harrigan from the groundbreaking IDEA Academy, Aaliyah Nestoridis from Spacecubed, Shane Lewis Koodaideri Innovation and Technology, Karen Cheng from Mechanical Rock, Sarah A James from Capgemini, and our CTV Director Mat Lewis for facilitating the panel. You were all phenomenal and we were so proud to work with you all.
Thank you Dr Eunice Sari for coordinating the event. Shout out to the #HubSisters Shannon Hansen Emma O’Neil Rebekah Craggs & Wongy (Michelle Wong)
