Get on Set! is an affordable and practical workshop designed for young or inexperienced filmmakers who want to learn how the industry works, get advice, build connections, and—most importantly—gain opportunities to Get on Set!

The workshop is hosted by Harry Betlehem, a WA director whose projects have enjoyed modest success. but these days is acting as more of a community figure trying to get people off the ground. After years of attending meetings, networking events, and film gatherings, Harry is eager to share what he’s learned with anyone keen to get ahead & understand the industry better.

Harry works closely with the independent scene and local creatives. He founded the Facebook group “WA Film & TV Extras”, plans to have a new networking event “Build the Bridge” go live soon, as well as set up a Podcast curating and talking about local productions. His mission is to strengthen the local industry by connecting working professionals with emerging filmmakers, as well as with high schools, TAFEs, and universities.

Over time, he has built a large private database of cast, crew, and locations, often sharing it with other productions. If you’re motivated, skilled and keen to contribute, you can join the list and hopefully get more experience under your belt!

Despite knowledge of most roles and being comfortable inside of them, Harry does not claim to be a professional and this workshop is instead about passing on knowledge, advice and insights he’s gathered to help others navigate the film scene with confidence and start creating great work.
(Basically, he was in the situation you are now, film students. Almost like a professional amateur,,,?)

If you’re new to the industry, unsure which crew role suits you, looking for your next step after graduating, wanting more opportunities to get on set, or simply curious about how the local scene works, this workshop is for you.

And truly – don’t be intimidated.
Everyone is welcome, especially you.
